October is upon us! Yesterday was the day to bring out the fall decor in our home!! There is something about the fall colors in fall decor that provides all the warm, cozy vibes for your home. So come along on this post for some 2024 fall decor inspiration.

Fall Decor

Keep It Simple

Here’s my promise to you—adding a touch of Fall to your home doesn’t have to be complicated or overwhelming.

I keep it simple with just three plastic bins filled with my favorite seasonal pieces: a mix of pumpkins, fall stems, garlands, vintage orange tins, cozy pillows, and garden flags.

That’s it! A little goes a long way in bringing the warmth and charm of autumn into your home. 🍂🏡

I love encouraging moms to bring the seasons to life at home through simple, thoughtful decorating. It’s such a special way to make memories and create a cozy atmosphere for your family.

But let me be clear—it doesn’t have to look like Fall exploded in your living room, and it definitely doesn’t need to break the bank.

As much as I enjoy a good Hallmark movie, let’s be honest—their version of Fall décor is a little over the top (and probably done by a team of set designers 😄).

Keep it simple. Be intentional. A few well-placed pumpkins, cozy textures, and warm colors can make a big impact—without the stress or the splurge. 🍁✨

Fall Decor

You can find a detailed explanation of why I think decorating your home for the seasons and holidays is important for your family in my blog post 6 Reasons to Add Seasonal Decor To Your Home. But I’ll give you the short version here.

6 Reasons for Decorating

  1. For your family,
  2. To foster a sense of tradition
  3. To provide a special welcome for our friends and family.
  4. To boost everyone’s mood.
  5. To add variety to your home and life.
  6. To encourage creativity.

Before You Begin

Put Summer Away

Before you begin, I suggest a quick sweep of your home to put away anything that gives a summer feel. Things like summer stems, pillows, blankets, and pictures. It is always good to begin with a clean slate.

Give Your House A Good Cleaning

I also suggest giving your home a good clean before you add new seasonal decor. My most recent series on cleaning can help, Get The 411 On Cleaning Your Home: The Kitchen and Get The 411 On Cleaning Your Home: The Bathroom.

Obviously, cleaning at this time is not a necessity and if that thought keeps you from decorating for Fall, then skip it. For me, I like to rid my home of dust and dirt when I change things up.

Let’s Do This-2024 Fall Decor Ideas

Pumpkins

Who doesn’t love a good pumpkin? 🍂 There’s just something about their shape, color, and undeniable charm—I truly love it all.

And in recent years, pumpkins have gotten a bit of a makeover! From soft neutrals to unexpected shades and all kinds of unique shapes and sizes, they’ve become even more fun to decorate with.

Fall Decor

I’m a sucker for a good princess pumpkin—give me all the whites, soft blues, greens, and peachy tones! 😍 They’re like the fairy godmothers of Fall decor… elegant, unexpected, and dreamy. They add the perfect touch of charm and variety to your pumpkin patch lineup! 🎃✨

If you decorate with real pumpkins, don’t forget to wash them before you display them. I like to put my pumpkins in a bath of bleach and water or Dawn soap and water to wash them. It will preserve them and make them last a lot longer.

Leaves

Fall stems, Fall garland, a faux Fall tree, pillows, and pictures. All of these things are ways to add Fall leaves to your home.

Fall Decor

Dried Flowers

One of my favorite ways to add a touch of Fall to our home in recent years has been with dried hydrangeas. I love snipping stems from the garden, letting them dry naturally, and bringing their soft, muted beauty indoors for the season. 🍂💐

Fall Decor

Limelight hydrangeas take on the most beautiful mauve-meets-green hue as they age—and it couldn’t be more perfect for Fall. Their soft, faded tones blend seamlessly with the cozy colors in our autumn home.

You can also forage for live branches with colorful leaves or berries—clip a few and bring that beauty indoors. Just pop them into a basket or a pretty vase, and you’ve got an instant touch of Fall, straight from nature. 🍂🍇

Faux Stems

Faux flowers are all the rage. You can find them at the Dollar Store, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Home Goods, Walmart, or Target. They are also fun to pop in a vase or basket for the Fall.

Garland

I don’t think a season goes by without me adding a garland to my fireplace mantle—it just brings me so much joy! 🍂 If you don’t have a mantle, no worries—drape it along a staircase railing, across a hutch, or even over a doorway. There are so many fun ways to get creative and add a festive touch!

Fall Decor

Your garland can be bright and colorful, or it can be subtle and simple like mine. I love the white pumpkins that adorn our mantle. See above.

By the way, the pumpkin garland was so inexpensive but packs a punch. Hobby Lobby is always good for fun garlands.

YouTube is such a fun way to bring a little Fall ambiance into your living room—especially if you have a big black TV screen above your mantel. 🍂 Just search for a vintage pumpkin or autumn-themed screensaver—many even come with relaxing background music to set the mood. It’s such an easy (and free!) way to cozy up your space. 📺🎃🍁

Fall Decor

Pillows & Blankets

I used to love the brightly colored Fall pillows but over the past few years, I’ve gone with more muted ones. I found one this year in a beautiful green with white and tan pumpkins on the front. It’s darling and I LOVE it.

Home Goods is where I found it. It was calling my name as I was looking for baby room decor for my daughter.

The two pillows on my couch above are from Target this year.

Round Gold Pillow

Fall Decor

I have this beautiful muted warm gold blanket I picked up at Target a few years back, and without fail, it makes its way into our Fall decor every year. 🍂

It’s soft, cozy, and fits the autumn vibe perfectly. Sometimes, just one well-placed throw in a rich Fall hue can completely elevate your space and give it that warm, seasonal feel.

I found this gorgeous, cozy throw at Target if you are looking for one.

Fall Decor

Baskets

Something about a basket feels like Fall, doesn’t it? I have this thing for vintage baskets. I find myself gravitating toward them whenever I am thrifting and I usually come home with one or two.

Fall Decor

I love them because baskets have been used for generations by women for gathering things around the home. The texture and warmth of a vintage woven basket are beautiful. It adds dimension and soul to your home and can make your home feel warm and welcoming.

Fall Decor

Sometimes, it’s the simplest touches that make the biggest impact. Styling a table with just a few pumpkins and vintage brass candlesticks is an easy, elegant way to bring the warmth of Fall into your home. 🎃✨

The natural charm of pumpkins paired with the glow of aged brass adds both texture and warmth to any space—whether it’s your dining table, entryway, or coffee table. You don’t need an elaborate setup to make it beautiful—just a few thoughtful pieces can instantly elevate the whole room.

Fall Decor

Wreaths

Wreaths are a great way to add the Fall feeling to your home. Add one to your front door, your back door, an inside door or on a hook. You can see this cute little one hanging in my dining room to add a pop of color.

Fall Decor

Another easy way to add a seasonal touch is to fill any bowl—wooden, ceramic, or woven—with pumpkins. It’s such a simple idea, but it makes a big impact!

This long, narrow wooden bowl is one I found at Home Goods a few years ago, and I just love it. It has such an authentic, rustic feel. And because it’s low-profile, I can leave it on the table—even with candles lit during dinner—and it adds the perfect cozy, welcoming touch.

Don’t be afraid to just layer or stack inexpensive dollar store pumpkins to anywhere. White pumpkins are my favorite…white anything is my favorite, honestly, but you all probably know that 😘

Fall Decor

Orange Anything

So I kinda love pops of orange too. I found these adorable vintage tins at a barn sale last fall. I think I paid 5 bucks for them.

Fall Decor

They are so sweet and add just the pop I needed on my hutch in my kitchen. I love how they match the orange pumpkin on top of the hutch.

The Joy Of Fall, Home & Family

I love celebrating the harvest season with pumpkins, faux stems, autumn leaves, and all the cozy pillows and blankets that make our home feel warm and inviting. That’s the vibe we go for each year.

That said—if skeletons, witches, or spooky touches are your thing, go for it! Your Fall decor should reflect what you love. You do you! 🎃👻

This time of year just exudes coziness—from crisp mornings and sweatshirt weather to cool evenings by the fire. More than anything, I want our home to feel like a soft landing place—a warm, welcoming space for friends and family to gather and feel right at home.

Fall Decor

Fall is football and soccer, and family. Fall is apple crisp, chili, grilled cheese, and tomato soup. Fall is hayrides, falling leaves, pumpkin patches, and family.

There’s no denying it—families are struggling, and relationships can be hard. But there’s something about Fall that offers a chance to slow down, reconnect, and draw closer again.

Creating a warm, welcoming home can be the very thing that brings people together. When your space feels cozy and inviting, your family and friends will want to gather, linger, and make memories.

Be intentional—open your doors and invite others in. Roast hot dogs and make s’mores over a fire, bake an apple pie or crisp, and savor the sweetness of the season together.

Fall is a beautiful time to celebrate the blessings around us—and the people beside us. 🍂

Happy Fall Y’all!

So much love~Kim 🧡
